Mulching
The reasons why mulching is important to tree health are varied and extend far beyond aesthetics. Mulching provides the tree's roots with a cooler and more moisture-rich environment to thrive. Additionally, mulching keeps potentially harmful high-powered lawn and landscaping equipment a safe distance from the tree's base. Examples of mulch include wood chips and pine straw.
SNIP’S TREE has the training and experience to know how deep to mulch and how far to extend the mulch bed so that your tree will fully reap the benefits of mulching.

Fertilization
As a part of proper tree care, fertilization provides your tree with the proper balance of nutrients to grow. Because many trees grow in soil that has been drained of essential nutrients or is otherwise void of the elements needed for a tree to thrive, a certified arborist can fertilize your tree to improve growth, appearance, and overall health. As with mulching, a certified arborist will be able to select the proper fertilization balance for your soil, tree size, and root system.
Pruning
Pruning is a very common service that allows the tree to live while removing only the dead, damaged, or dangerous portions. If a branch or portion of the tree is infected by disease, dead, or infested with insects or other parasites, that portion of the tree can be removed by pruning or tree trimming.
Pruning a tree will cause the tree to grow differently, and if done incorrectly, it can potentially cause tree damage or shorten the tree’s life. Therefore, only a certified arborist like Paul Oklevitch of SNIP’S TREE should perform tree pruning services. For safety reasons, you should never attempt tree trimming or pruning without the help of an experienced and properly certified tree specialist.
Tree Removal
Because of the numerous benefits of trees, pruning is always preferable to removal. However, there are certain circumstances when full tree removal is the only viable option. Generally, removal will be recommended if the tree is dead or unsalvageable due to disease or parasitic infestation. SNIP’S TREE will examine your tree and help you determine if the tree can be saved by pruning or if full removal is necessary.
As with pruning, only a certified arborist should attempt tree removal as they have the training, experience, and equipment necessary to perform this dangerous work. Stump grinding services are also available. Please call for details.
